Barnstable Climate Resilience Event

Friday, March 29th the Town of Barnstable is hosting an immersive one-day workshop to explore how we are impacted by natural hazards and to identify actions to improve our community’s resiliency.
The Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) project will bring together local and regional leaders and interested citizens to review vulnerabilities, strengths, and solutions from environmental, social and infrastructure perspectives. Actions identified by the group will be eligible for future funding under the Commonwealth’s MVP program.
This workshop is a product of the Town of Barnstable’s participation in the Commonwealth’s MVP program. This program provides support for towns in Massachusetts to plan for and implement projects that mitigate the impacts of climate change and natural hazards. Communities that complete the MVP program become certified as an “MVP community” and are eligible for State grant funding and other opportunities.
During the MVP workshop, participants will work with local and regional leaders to:
- Characterize the hazards facing the community
- Identify community vulnerabilities and hazards
- Identify and prioritize potential community actions
- Recommend overall priority actions for the community
Advance registration is encouraged. Registration and more information on the Planning & Development Department project page. You can also view the Cape Cod Commission’s “Story Map” for the project on their website.
