Bob Silva, former BARS President and Vice President

Bob Silva was BARS President from 2010 to 2012 and BARS Vice President from 2008 to 2010. While Bob was president, he started the BARS scholarship for returning college students and the BARS monthly newsletter to members. Bob was present at every BARS event, often with his granddaughter, Emma, and volunteered for the Barnstable Department of Natural Resources as long as he could. BARS will miss Bob tremendously.

“With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Robert Henry Silva (Barnstable, Massachusetts), who passed away on February 28, 2024 at the age of 81.

He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth (Senay); his children, Diane Silva-Henningsen (Michael) and John R. Silva; his granddaughter Emma Silva-Henningsen; his siblings, Richard J. N. Silva (Ginger) and Louise A. Mahoney (late Daniel Mahoney); and his sister-in-law Ann Hoglund (Michael) of Ocala, FL. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 8th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home (160 W Main St, Hyannis, MA 02601). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, March 9th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Our Lady of the Assumption Church (76 Wianno Ave, Osterville, MA 02655). A burial will be held on Monday, March 11th 2024 at 12:30 PM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery.”
