Cotuit Bay Shellfishing Closure 07-05-18
An emergency contamination closure is going into effect for part of Cotuit Bay. Unfortunately, a porta-potty was tipped over at Cotuit Town Dock. Due to the close proximity of the bay, along with expected rainfall tomorrow and the nature of the cleanup efforts, this will remain in effect until further notice and testing can be done by Division of Marine Fisheries to ensure shellfish is safe to eat. Please pass this along. Remember that regardless of where you go shellfishing, you should always check a map before you head out to ensure the area is open since once in a while things like this happen. All of the latest shellfishing maps can be found on the Town of Barnstable website.
