The Sixteenth Annual BARS Blessing of the Rakes took place June 8th, 2019. Thank you to Reverend John J. Perry, Pastor of Our Lady of Victory Parish in Centerville, for blessing our rakes with help from BARS member, Steve Hoxie.
The BARS 2019 Annual Dinner will be held at the Terrace Room at the Hyannis Golf Course on Tuesday, May 7, 2019.
Barnstable’s Natural Resources Program will offer two FREE shellfishing classes open to all ages this summer.
The Three Bays Stormwater Project is being completed in partnership with the town of Barnstable Department of Public Works, Barnstable Clean Water Coalition, Barnstable Land Trust and Horsley Witten Group. This presentation will provide an overview of the project goals and talk specifically about progress made on construction of new stormwater treatment systems at Cordwood Landing and Prince Cove Marina.
Tom Marcotti and Liz Lewis will bring us up to date on the Town of Barnstable Natural Resources Department’s activities and the upcoming Oyster season. The October 2017 BARS meeting will be held at the West Barnstable Community Building on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm.
BARS will be at Marstons Mills Village Day, September 9th at noon with our famous chowder. The annual celebration, which is free and open to the public, is hosted by the Marstons Mills Village Association.
Our featured speakers for the September, 2018 BARS meeting will be Avery Revere, President of Friends of Barnstable Harbor, and Mark Borrelli, PhD, Coastal Geologist and Director of the Center for Coastal Studies Seafloor Mapping Project doing a presentation on the Benthic Habitat Mapping Project for Barnstable Harbor.
