BARS Provides Scholarships

BARS SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE PRACTICES

OUR PRACTICE It is the practice of The Barnstable Association of Recreational Shell fishermen to provide financial assistance to individuals pursuing careers in the marine, ocean or environmental fields graduating from schools in the Barnstable area.

OUR PURPOSE The purpose of this policy is to set forth guidelines, including but not limited to the application and selection processes, for use by the Scholarship Committee and other appropriate individuals/groups. The Chair of the Scholarship Committee is responsible for implementing this policy with the assistance of the members of the Scholarship Committee as well as the President of BARS.

Since Our Founding in 2001 BARS has given over $130,000 in scholarships to deserving Students. We work at the Town of Barnstable's Redemption Shed in the summer to collect redeemable bottles and cans. This, plus contributions and generous donations from BARS members, family, and friends of BARS funds our scholarship program. We are grateful to all who contribute to our scholarships and dedicate many of our scholarships to BARS members who have recently passed.
